Beaus Support Hub
Where People connect, Support grows, And communities thrive
OUR STORY
Beaus Support Hub is about so much more than a name. It is the culmination of more than 25 years working in community services, combined with a journey I never expected.
Four years ago, I had travelled to Tully, approximately 150 kilometres south of Cairns, delivering suicide prevention training in remote communities. The following morning, while working from home and catching up on paperwork from that trip, I woke with pins and needles in both feet. As the day progressed, so did my symptoms. What began as thinking I should see my GP quickly became a trip to hospital, before deteriorating to the point where an ambulance was my only option. By 2:00 pm, every movement—no matter how small—sent what felt like electric shocks through my body. Within hours, I had lost the ability to walk independently and my life had changed forever.
That experience forced me to navigate the NDIS not only as a professional, but as a participant. I experienced firsthand the challenges, frustrations and, most importantly, the life-changing difference that exceptional support can make.
That unique perspective inspired me to create more than just another platform. It inspired me to build a place where lived experience meets professional expertise, where quality support workers, participants and support coordinators can connect with confidence, and where meaningful relationships are valued above transactions.
My vision has always been simple: to create the perfect space for great support to happen, because everyone deserves to feel understood, respected and empowered to live the life they choose.
We lost our Dad in April 2021 and my Niece in particular, was struggling to cope with the loss. Later that year in July, she was innocently scrolling on Gumtree and saw a Litter of Kelpie's up for grabs. Off she and her partner went to collect the dog, which was a three hour drive. By the time they got there, there was no choice, just the one pup left. They decided to take the last remaining pup. And thank goodness they did. Before too long, Beau had become the most precious being in the universe and he lit up every moment spent together. After having such a big loss in the family, we never thought an impulse buy would mean so much and bring so much to our entire family. Beaus presence lights up any room, and fills every heart he touches with joy. So when thinking about a mascot for my new business idea, Beau became the best and obvious choice. To think my Niece saw an add on Gumtree one day, and off to collect a new puppy same day, who knew he would make such a positive impact on a family and become the driving force behind Beaus Support Hub.
